Life
Early years
  • 1883 in Sullivan, Indiana
  • Mother died at 6 years old, wrote a poem about it later
  • Father died at 13 with complications from the Civil War

High School and College
  • Graduated from Sullivan High School in 1902, one of 24 graduates, gave the "class history" at graduation, the high school was 20 years old that year.
  • Graduated from Wabash Collage in 1907
  • Converted in 1905 at Manton, Michigan at a Friends meeting.

Early Ministry
  • taught some in public schools
  • Ordained in 1910
  • He had been married previously to Orilla Kibbee. They married in September of 1910, and both (it seems) were Quaker ministers.  She died, however in 1916.

I found a marriage in Ancestry.com between a Lucinda Curtis and Eli Shepherd on November 29, 1834 in Scott County, Indiana. The last name of Lucinda seems wrong and I'm not sure it's the same Eli, but it is quite a coincidence if it is not.
